Earlier this month I recycled some electronics at a local Staples store. They were offering incentives for turning in all your electronic junk, and I’d been accumulating some for years. It felt great to get rid of (among other things):
- Two broken BlackBerries (I’m now an iPhone gal)
- Two old cell phones from my pre-Blackberry days
- An old cassette tape recorder
- An old telephone
- Plus multiple, multiple cords
My biggest concern (after dropping off my stuff) was that I’d forgotten to clear my BlackBerries of their data. Doh. So I spent an evening changing all my online passwords that hadn’t been changed since I owned either BlackBerry. Probably not a bad thing to do anyway, but…
Note to self (and to anybody thinking of donating electronics): Clear all data off your machines as soon as you stop using them. And double-check before donating.
