star note card (free adult coloring page)

This free, downloadable adult coloring page is something new that I’m offering – note cards that you can print, colour and fold yourself to create your own, handmade greeting and note cards.

The first one I’m offering here is a Christmas card I actually created for my family this past Christmas. I printed the card on different colours of card stock (pink, blue, yellow, white, cream) and then coloured in each card in a unique way. (You can see the finished cards in the Instagram post below.)

To make the cards:

  • Save the PDF file below, or open it in your computer browser.
  • Print the PDF. You’ll get the best results if you use letter-sized (8 1/2″ x 11″) card stock or cover stock, select “portrait” orientation for this particular card, and select the print size as 100%.
  • Colour the drawing however you would like (crayons, pencil crayons and markers work well).
  • Fold the page in half with the drawing on the outside, and then fold it in half again to make the finished card.
  • To mail or gift the card, use an invitation-sized envelope, available at most stationery or office supply stores.

flowers (free adult coloring page)

The last of my catch-up posts of floral adult coloring pages – this one is a bit more whimsical (more like a doodle) than many of my illustrations. Sometimes I really like creating patterns in the backgrounds, thinking it would be fun to add a lot of different colours.

flowers (free adult coloring page)

This drawing is another oldie from late 2016 that got postponed until now because of Christmas and winter. Flowers are one of my favourite things to draw, and I did a lot of floral drawings when I first started making adult coloring pages. This coloring page was inspired by this doodle that I did in one of my little sketchbooks (below).

wildflowers (free adult coloring page)

This is one of the first adult coloring pages I created in late 2016; I haven’t posted it until now because I wanted to upload some seasonal Christmas and winter drawings in December and early January. I drew the original in blue ink (see it on my original Instagram post, below), but if you can print it in greyscale if you want black and white. The drawing was based on a photograph I found of wildflowers.

wonky angel (free adult coloring page)

This wonky angel was a little throwaway doodle that I did several weeks ago, inspired by this art journal spread (below) from one of my older sketchbooks.

He’s a little unusual, but I like him.

celtic knots (free adult coloring page)

I’ve loved Celtic knots ever since I studied Medieval art history at art school. I’ve never tried to draw a Celtic knot before, however…  and it’s harder than I thought! (In fact, I think there’s at least one mistake in the above drawing.) But they’re pretty cool…

dragonfly (free adult coloring page)

free-adult-coloring-page-dragonfly-001

A friend of mine loves dragonflies. Did you know that dragonflies shed their outer skeleton, or exuvia, several times in the transformation from nymph to adult dragonfly? Because of this, like the butterfly, the dragonfly can be considered a symbol of transformation, but unlike the butterfly, the transformation is not as simple as caterpillar to butterfly.

This is another adult coloring page that started out as a doodle just for fun, and then part-way through I decided to make it a coloring page. Unlike most of my drawings, it’s in blue ballpoint pen rather than black.

diverse faces (free adult coloring page)

free-adult-coloring-page-faces-001

I drew this adult coloring page one night when I was watching a Christmas movie with my family. That same night I also drew several of my Christmas adult coloring pages like these snowflakes and these stars. I wanted to draw a number of faces, and it was important to me that they be diverse. I’m still trying to settle on my own “style” for faces.

zentangle (free adult coloring page)

free-adult-coloring-page-zentangle-001

I’ve loved zentangles ever since I first heard of them a few years ago. Basically a zentangle is a doodle drawing filled with various line patterns. They can be very simple, or they can be quite complex. The image at the beginning of this post is an example of doodles drawn in circular shapes. I got the idea from an Instagram post (below) that I saw by The Bloggess. (She’s much better at zentangles than I am.)
