fierce

cat yawning

RRRRRAWR! (Actually, that’s just him yawning. But doesn’t he look fierce? I need me some of that.)

napping with cat

Seriously, though – very lazy day. Lots of napping going on. Laziness. Good for me.

Made a frittata (below). Was trying to improve on my own technique, after sampling someone else’s at brunch. Very satisfying.

Do you ever do that? Try something for yourself, when no-one’s looking? I had an idea about the frittata – a way that I wanted to cook it, that might be an improvement. Fun to experiment…

perfect parking

car in parking garage

I park in an underground parking lot at my office. It’s a good day when I can pull through into my spot, so that I’m facing out rather than having to back in. Perfect parking. The perfect parking spot. It’s funny how good that makes me feel.

bed

Another thing that makes me feel good is a made bed. It’s very rare that I don’t make my bed every morning – the sooner the better. After I’m done, the room feels ready. Perfect, just like the parking.

stovetop with pots 1

Above and below are what my stove looks like pretty much every morning. I love to cook fresh meals. It’s an Ayurvedic thing, although I don’t follow Ayurveda much anymore. But I still like to make things from scratch each day. I always put my hard-boiled egg pot in the back right corner, and my kettle in the back left – until it’s boiled. The wooden board is to protect the burner from splashes from my vegetable stew pot. It’s complicated.

Below is a new kitchen sink shot. The scissors are to cut up snow peas. I also use scissors to cut the ends off green beans. If you were a detective in a mystery novel, you would be able to reconstruct my vegetable stew from this photograph…

This is the desk in my front room this morning. It’s been so dreary lately, it was nice to see the sun.

Finally, here’s an impulse buy for supper: Panzerotti. I’ve been promising myself that I’ll start a primal diet soon. This is like a last carb hurrah…

panzerotti

Do you ever binge on “forbidden” foods? Do you ever feel like it’s beyond your control? It’s part of why I want to give up a high carb diet – I’m hoping that the cravings will disappear…

cat photo shoot

cat on upholstered chair

I’ve been taking lots of photos of the guys since the “incident”, just in case they’re not with me much longer. Above is Guy on the upholstered rocker in my back room.

Above and below are Guy in my bedroom.

(Added later) Finally, this is Tear on my desk, hanging out with me and my work laptop on Monday as I work from home, in order to keep an eye on the critters.

where i want to be right now

cats on bed 1

I have a pinboard on Pinterest called “Where I want to be right now.”

(If you click on that link in the previous sentence, you can visit. Highly recommended, because I’ll bet you’d like to be some of those places right now, too.)

Where I’d like to be right now, though, is in bed. And I was there, until about half an hour ago. (I’m writing this on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m.)

It’s been a rough few days. I had bad migraines and endo pain on the weekend, which have left me exhausted and depleted. Then last night I went to bed quite late, and woke up quite early. So when I got home from work tonight, I decided to listen to my body and rest for a few minutes. Which turned into an hour. And a half. The last half of which I spent in a crazy-dozy half-awake state, running through the list of reasons why I shouldn’t get up again.

So I’m going back there… very soon…

(I appreciate beds. And sleeping companions with purr-y sound f/x.)

summer bed

summer bed

This has been a hot summer. Supremely hot. Which has meant a few nights when I’ve been incredibly uncomfortable, because I don’t have air conditioning, and I use a heavy blackout curtain over my bedroom window to keep out moonlight and streetlight. One of my strategies to keep my bed as cool as possible is to use 100% cotton sheets and fall asleep with a fan (on a timer) blowing on my body. This is my summer bed (above).

I appreciate cool nights.

comfort – reading in bed

book on bed

I first learned the joys of reading in bed the summer I was 10, when I visited my grandmother all by myself, and really got the reading bug for the first time. I think I went through all the Little House books (and more!) in two weeks.

I appreciate reading in bed.
